If any officer has concerns about certifying information relating to insurance, risk management, health and safety, children’s activities, trusts and event disclosures how can that officer be assured on understanding the consequences of those answers?
The renewal material specifically references the potential for claims to be declined or cover to be affected if information is not correctly disclosed.
If an event were incorrectly classified, a trust omitted, or an activity inadequately disclosed, there could be consequences not only for the club but potentially for the officer signing the declaration.
Answers in addition to the other answers provided relating to the difference between providing information and 'proposing' in the other articles on this forum:
- The consequences are at the Zone level - that is why we have an insurance committee and Clubs are insulated from the direct requirements that would still apply but then be personal if each Club insured. This is why for the last 20 years or so that policies have been master policies. The very concerns raised for Club officers individually understanding whether the policy is adequate and that all officers including trustees are covered is delegated to zone committees.
- If there are any errors and omissions the officer is protected
- there is extra protection through the Helpdesk ticket process
